About the opportunity
As part of the Supportive Housing team, the focus of the Mental Health Worker role is to provide timely access to comprehensive mental health assessment, early intervention, and evidence-based treatment for clients, who may be rough sleeping, chronically homeless or may have been housed through the Housing First strategy within the Central Highlands region.
The Mental Health Worker will provide expert based psycho-social clinical assessment that are evidence based and or best practice and that enhance the person’s recovery from a chronic mental health disorder.
The Mental Health Worker will have well established connections to clinical services either in the Community setting or through Mental Health services, ensuring timely response to clients who are assessed as requiring mental health treatment.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have Case Management Experience; S2H Mental Health Worker will have strong case management skills. This includes the ability to assess clients needs, develop personalised case plans, coordinate services, and advocate for necessary resources. Mental Health Worker will be well-versed in connecting consumers to community resources, such as health care providers, and internal and external supports.
- Crisis intervention and Problem solving: S2H Mental Health Worker will be adapt at crisis intervention and problem solving. You will be prepared to handle difficult situations that may arise, such as mental health crisis, conflicts, or emergencies. Being able to think critically, remain calm under pressure, and develop effective solutions to maintain a safe and supportive environment for consumers.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Respect: S2H Mental Health Worker will demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect. You will understand and appreciate the unique backgrouds, experiences, of consumers we support. By fostering an environment of acceptance and respect, S2H mental Health Worker can build trust, establish meaningful connections and provide culturally appropriate support.
These skills and qualities ensure S2H Mental Health Worker is able to contribute effectively to to the supportive housing team, supporting consumers in their journey towards stability, independence and overall improved well-being.
