What the role is We are looking to recruit an observant lifeguard to ensure the safety of visitors and guests alike in and around the pool area. The lifeguard will explain safety rules, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce policies on showers and proper attire. You will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, locker rooms, and restrooms. You will maintain pool equipment, and monitor and record pool temperatures. To ensure success you need to assess situations swiftly and make judicious decisions regarding the safety of swimmers. Top candidates are excellent communicators, swift, and safety-minded. Beyond the Lifeguard duties, the position has the scope to support operations, product and guest welfare by undertaking tasks related to programming (eg. organising activities, coordinating sports or wellness classes, etc.) and/or basic daily maintenance, supporting the location's maintenance team, as necessary. What you will be doing Supervise swimming activities at the hotel's main pool and ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed. Warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforce pool regulations and water safety policies. Administer first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary. Evaluate conditions for safety and initiate aquatics emergency action plan as required. Inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable. Supervise and assist in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment, assists with chlorine residual water tests and with records and charts of water tests and records of accidents, and adds chemicals to pool water as directed. Work closely with the Locations' Maintenance team in ensuring all proactive and reactive maintenance is dealt with in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to the guests' and visitors' experience. Participate in daily maintenance tasks, as necessary. Instruct or assist classes in fundamentals of swimming as needed. Resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure a safe pool environment when competing programs/priorities require use of the pool. Dependent on the profile of the successful applicant, duties may include supporting the Experience & Destination team with daily tasks related to programming - wellness, sports, activities coordination and general support. What you need for the role Knowledge and ability to evaluate conditions, at the pool, or other offsite natural pools, streams, or rivers to determine any potential dangers or hazards Ability to adjust programs as necessary to ensure the safety of the visitors and other staff Swimming proficiency and comfort in all types of water conditions Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services Minimum of 6 months of related work experience Certified Lifeguard Training Certification Low and High Skill Wellness Delivery Staff who are wellness-focused and have a passion themselves (or hold a qualification) can deliver a wellness activity in the location for our Luna Loyalty Program.
