The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Coordinator, Age-Friendly, of the Community and Cultural Development Division this Part-Time Contract position will be responsible for assisting the Coordinator, Age-Friendly, in enhancing opportunities and for fulfilling regulatory requirements for older adults (adults 55+) and residents throughout the Town of Caledon’s programs and services in alignment with the Town’s Council approved Age-Friendly Caledon Action Plan (AFC).

The Age-Friendly Action Plan is designed to help remove barriers that impact older adult residents’ ability to connect with people, places and services that make Caledon a great place to live. AFC supports a wide range of initiatives including, but not limited to engagement with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Policy Development, Social Programing, Housing, Transportation, Social Engagement, Communication and Outreach.
This position will also support the implementation of a grant funded project supporting Elder Abuse Education and Awareness for the Town of Caledon and surrounding area.
As the Administrator, Age-Friendly, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Assist and support the Age-Friendly Coordinator with daily business tasks and the implementation of additional deliverables outlined in the Age-Friendly Caledon Action Plan.
- Actively represent the Town of Caledon on various projects that require input regarding the advancement of issues related to adults 55+ both externally and internally.
- Assist staff in the development, implementation and enhancement of programs and events geared towards older adults (55+) including annual recognition events such as Seniors Month and International Day of Older Persons.
- Liaise and Network with community service providers, older adult clubs, groups and/or associations to assist with coordination, information sharing and supporting Caledon’s older adult/ adult 55+ demographic.
- Support with communication, outreach and information development and distribution including marketing, community engagement and web faced.
- Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a professional with minimum education, training and/or knowledge in the above, normally acquired from a post-secondary education in gerontology, community development, social services and/or social work or equivalent experience working with older adults in a community setting.
Our ideal candidate has interest in an experience in working with older adults particularly around sensitive topics of elder abuse prevention, ageism, and fraud education and awareness
The ideal candidate will have the Ability to work with sensitivity and response to challenging conversations around the wellbeing of older adults, elder abuse, fraud and related topics.
The successful candidate for Administrator, Age-Friendly will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
This position offers a hourly salary between $29.15 - $35.72.
Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
